SizinG guide
At L.D. Haning & Co., every item is handcrafted to order. Because our custom leather goods are made specifically for you, taking accurate measurements before ordering ensures a perfect fit right out of the box.
Handcrafted Leather Belts
Important Note: Your belt size is NOT the same as your pant size. Pants vary significantly by brand and material stretch, while leather is sturdy and measured to exact physical inches.
Method a: Measure a well-fitting belt (Most Accurate)
- Lay your belt flat: Take an everyday belt that fits you well and place it flat on a table or flat surface.
- Identify your hole: Locate the specific belt hole you use most frequently.
- Measure the length: Using a flexible measuring tape, measure from the inside edge of the buckle frame (or where the leather folds over the buckle) straight to the center of your most-used hole.
- Do not measure to the tip: Do not measure to the end of the belt tip. The measurement in inches from the fold/inside buckle edge to your current hole is your custom belt size.

Method 2: MEASURE YOUR Waist PAnts
- Wear your regular trousers: Put on the pants you intend to wear with the belt, secured at your normal waist height.
- Thread the tape: Pass a flexible measuring tape through the belt loops around your waist.
- Check the fit: Pull the measuring tape snug (not overly tight) where you comfortably wear your belt.
- Determine your size: Note the measurement in inches. If your measurement falls on a fraction or odd number, round up to the nearest even inch (e.g., $35.5″
-->36″$).
